Paintings are watercolor or water based oil paintings on gesso board. I am tempted by the sway-backed roof line of a falling barn, abandoned farm houses that convey a trace of humanity, animals large and small, and “sacred” landscapes. I enjoy the spontaneity and immediacy of the watercolor medium, the staining and the layering of color, and variations between opacity and transparency of paint. The water-based oils give me a chance to slow down and work over a longer period of time, approaching similar green mountain subject matter.
